Symptomatology associated with “Purple top”, an emerging disease of solanaceous fruit species

نویسندگان

چکیده

“Purple top” is an emerging disease that affects solanaceous crops, reported mainly on Solanum tuberosum (potato). Additionally, Bactericera cockerelli has been as the insect vector of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (CaLso), a pathogen associated with this disease. However, information about in Andean fruit species such betaceum (tree tomato), S. quitoense (naranjilla) and Physalis peruviana (cape gooseberry) almost nil. This study was carried out Tumbaco Experimental Farm INIAP to describe phenotypic symptoms caused by Molecular diagnosis PCR method diagnose causal agent symptomatology. The main observed were purple color leaves, smaller apical inward curvature edge over-sprouting, yellowish stopped plant growth; however there also asymptomatic plants. P. most susceptible because showed 100% incidence. CaLso identified These results contribute understanding expression crops. more studies related epidemiology, diagnostic methods, mixed infections, vector-pathogen interaction control are required order generate allows complete knowledge pest.

Henipaviruses: emerging paramyxoviruses associated with fruit bats.

Two related, novel, zoonotic paramyxoviruses have been described recently. Hendra virus was first reported in horses and thence humans in Australia in 1994; Nipah virus was first reported in pigs and thence humans in Malaysia in 1998. Human cases of Nipah virus infection, apparently unassociated with infection in livestock, have been reported in Bangladesh since 2001. Species of fruit bats (gen...

An Emerging Mycoplasma Associated with Trichomoniasis, Vaginal Infection and Disease

Humans are colonized by thousands of bacterial species, but it is difficult to assess the metabolic and pathogenic potential of the majority of these because they have yet to be cultured. Here, we characterize an uncultivated vaginal mycoplasma tightly associated with trichomoniasis that was previously known by its 16S rRNA sequence as "Mnola." In this study, the mycoplasma was found almost exc...

Purple top symptoms are associated with reduction of leaf cell death in phytoplasma-infected plants

Plants exhibit a wide variety of disease symptoms in response to pathogen attack. In general, most plant symptoms are recognized as harmful effects on host plants, and little is known about positive aspects of symptoms for infected plants. Herein, we report the beneficial role of purple top symptoms, which are characteristic of phytoplasma-infected plants. First, by using plant mutants defectiv...

Trichoderma Species Associated with Medicinal Plants

Objective: The genus Trichoderma comprises a great number of fungal strains that act as biological control agents, the antagonistic properties of which are based on the activation of multiple mechanisms. Methods: Trichoderma strains exert biocontrol against fungal phytopathogens either indirectly, by competing for nutrients and space, modifying the environmental conditions, or promotin...

Optimization of in vitro Propagation of Purple Passion Fruit (Passiflora edulis), an Important Medicinal and Ornamental Plant

Tissue culture techniques can be beneficial for quick clonal propagation and production of disease-free plants of purple passion fruit as one of the most important medicinal and ornamental plants. These techniques are essential tools for the production of transgenic plants and high-value phytochemicals. The present study was planned to introduce an efficient in vitro propagation for pu...
